That is surprising because there is a way to do syncless centering that won't help mid range mounts but it should work fine for a paramount even if it isn't properly syncd to the sky. So if the new syncless routine doesn't work for paramount either, maybe there's a problem.
The basic methods can be tested just with pencil and paper and doing it manually. It's just a couple additions and subtractions to compensate for the measured error in the slew.
